A brand positioning statement is a concise internal document defining who a business serves, what category it competes in, what makes it different, and why that difference matters to the audience.

It's typically not customer-facing — it's a working reference used to keep design, messaging and marketing decisions aligned, so a website, a logo, and a sales pitch all reinforce the same underlying positioning rather than drifting apart over time.

A useful positioning statement is specific enough to rule things out — if it could apply equally to any competitor in the category, it isn't doing its job as a decision-making tool.
